Restaurant & Hospitality IT That Survives the Dinner Rush

Your POS shouldn’t be the reason a guest leaves angry. We build hospitality IT that’s rush-tested and PCI-aware from the start — for restaurants, hotels, and resorts across Northern Michigan, whether you run Toast, Square, Clover, Aloha, Micros, Cloudbeds, OPERA, Mews, or another platform.

The Daily Reality

Common Technology Challenges We Solve

for Restaurants & Hospitality

We support restaurants, hotels, and resorts across Northern Michigan, and the pain points are remarkably consistent. If any of these sound familiar, your generalist IT provider may not understand what it’s like when your POS dies in the middle of a 200-cover Friday — but we do.

PCI-Aware by Design

PCI-Aware IT for Hospitality

What it actually looks like, day to day

PCI compliance isn’t a once-a-year questionnaire. It’s a set of daily configuration choices in the network and devices your team uses every shift. Most hospitality operators we talk to are doing 60% of what’s needed and assume their processor will warn them if they’re not. They won’t — until a breach happens and you find out the hard way that the SAQ you signed was actually false. The cost of getting it wrong starts with chargebacks and ends with card-brand fines.

  • Network segmentation that actually keeps card data isolated. Your POS terminals, payment devices, and guest Wi-Fi each live on their own VLAN. A compromised guest device cannot reach the card data environment. This is the single biggest PCI scope reducer most operators are missing.

  • MFA on every back-office system that touches the business. POS admin console, PMS admin, email, payroll, banking, scheduling. Push-based MFA, not text-message codes. A stolen manager password should not be enough to drain the bank account or modify the menu.

  • Managed EDR on every back-office workstation. The office PC where you process payroll, where invoices are paid, where the manager checks email — these are the doors a ransomware attacker walks through, not the POS itself. EDR watches for ransomware behavior and blocks it in real time.

  • Back-of-house workstations lock automatically. The host stand PC, the kitchen back-office, the hotel front-desk workstation — auto-lock after idle. A walk-up visitor doesn’t get a chance to glance at last night’s deposit report or a guest’s passport scan.

  • Encrypted, off-site backup with a tested restore. Menu data, scheduling system, payroll, accounting, surveillance footage retention. We back up nightly, test the restore monthly, and keep an offline copy that ransomware can’t touch.

  • Vendor management for every payment integration. Processor, POS vendor, online ordering, gateway, gift card system — each one is in PCI scope. We track the contracts, the SAQ requirements, and the certifications. You don’t get the call from your processor saying your vendor is non-compliant and your rates are going up.

  • Audit logging on POS admin, PMS admin, and back-office systems. When a manager-card refund hits the news for the wrong reason, you need to know who, what, when. We configure logging so you can answer that in five minutes, not five days.

  • A documented incident response plan. The first 72 hours after a card-data breach determine whether you have a manageable cost or a six-figure card-brand fine. We help you write the plan before you need it, with the right call list and forensic-vendor relationships pre-established.

This is what we mean by PCI-aware — we configure your systems with the assumption that they’ll be probed, audited, or breached someday, and we want your operation to come out of that scenario clean and still open for business.

What We Actually Do

How We Support Your Hospitality Operation

Why Firms Choose Us

We Own the Outcome

“Your POS shouldn’t be the reason a guest leaves angry — we build hospitality IT that’s rush-tested from the start.”

  • 15-minute response time, not next-business-day. When your POS is down mid-service and you’re bleeding revenue every minute, “we’ll have someone reach out tomorrow” is not an acceptable answer.

  • Local presence in Petoskey. When a problem really does need a person on-site — like an aging server that won’t boot — we’re a short drive away. We support Northern Michigan from Northern Michigan.

  • PCI-aware technicians, not generalists. Every member of our team is trained on the network segmentation, payment-device handling, and SAQ realities that apply to a hospitality operation. We don’t hand off your tickets to a help desk in another time zone.

  • Serving Northern Michigan since 2015. A decade of staying in this market, working with operators through Aloha to Toast, on-prem servers to cloud POS, and the seasonality of a tourist economy. We’ve seen the failure modes and built the runbooks.

  • A signed Master Services Agreement before we touch anything. Hospitality operators need to know what they’re getting and what’s covered. Our agreements are clear, and we sign them before the first ticket.

  • We own the outcome, not just the ticket. Our job is to keep your service running — not to close tickets and bill add-ons. If something needs more attention than a quick fix, we say so and handle it.

Questions We Hear All The Time

Restaurant & Hospitality IT — FAQs

In nearly every case, yes. We support operators running Toast, Square, Clover, Aloha, Micros, Lightspeed, NCR, and others — plus the PMS systems (Cloudbeds, OPERA, Mews, RoomKeyPMS) that hotels and resorts run. We don’t replace your POS — we make it run better, document it, manage its updates, and serve as your support contact when issues arise. We coordinate directly with your POS vendor’s support team so you don’t have to.

Yes — we configure your network and systems so your SAQ is honest, and we maintain the documentation your processor or QSA will ask for. We do not act as your QSA (that’s a separate certified role), but we work alongside one if you need a Level 1 attestation, and for the vast majority of small-to-mid operations, we handle the operational compliance work that keeps the SAQ defensible.

PCI-DSS v4.0 is now in effect. The key controls — segmented networks, MFA, EDR, encrypted card capture, audit logging, vendor management, incident response — apply to nearly every merchant regardless of size. We configure systems that align with PCI-DSS requirements and we document what we did so you have artifacts if your processor or a card brand ever asks for proof. We are not a Qualified Security Assessor (QSA); for the small minority of operations that need a full Level 1 audit, we work alongside one.

Yes. DoorDash, Uber Eats, Grubhub, ChowNow, Toast Takeout, Olo — we configure the menu sync, the kitchen display integration, the printer routing, and the tablet management. When an integration breaks, we know which side it’s on, and we tell you immediately so you’re not blaming your POS vendor when it’s really DoorDash.

A real internet outage requires a real plan. We design every operation we serve with a failover path — typically a secondary connection or LTE/5G backup that takes over automatically when the primary fails. Your POS keeps processing, your team should not even notice the switch, and a 45-minute Spectrum outage doesn’t become a refund line at the host stand.

Yes. Whether you operate two restaurants, a restaurant plus a hotel, or a multi-property resort group, we build a network architecture that gives you central visibility and consistent configurations. New property opening? We standardize the rollout so location #4 looks exactly like location #1 the day it opens.

Our help desk answers in under 15 minutes during business hours. For after-hours emergencies — the kind that affect a Friday-night service or a check-in rush — we have an on-call escalation path. Most non-emergency tickets are resolved within the same business day.

Yes. Cyber insurance underwriters for restaurants and hotels increasingly require documented controls — network segmentation, MFA, EDR, backup, incident response plan, employee training, PCI SAQ documentation. We configure your systems to meet those standards and provide the documentation your renewal questionnaire asks for. If a breach does occur, we work alongside your breach counsel and forensics team and provide the logging artifacts they’ll need.

Pricing depends on the number of locations, the number of POS terminals and back-office workstations, and what you’re already running. Most single-location restaurants fall in a predictable monthly range that includes proactive monitoring, help desk, security, and backup. Multi-site and hotels are priced per property with volume considerations. We’re happy to put a fixed quote in writing after a free consultation. No surprise bills, no hourly nickel-and-diming.
